Crisis mode is standard for orchestras nowadays, with no end in sight. Can anyone imagine a world without Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw Orchestra? Well, there’s some major saber-rattling going on there (for details of which, click here).
But there’s no need to travel overseas to find major problems. Atlanta’s orchestra is on the verge of another lockout. Follow the money; sometimes, the damages are self-inflicted.
