The ArtsCenter is thrilled to present a performance by Carlota Santana’s Flamenco Vivo on Saturday, October 19th, at 7pm with a “meet and greet” afterwards with the artists. Our thanks go out to SouthArts and the National Endowment for the Arts for the funding to present such world-renowned artists. The general admission tickets are $20-on our website, www.artscenterlive.org.   It’s recommended to buy in advance as this show may sell out in our new, intimate, 130 seat theater. The ArtsCenter has a tradition of hosting excellent world music and dance events, and we hope to continue doing so in our new space at 400 Roberson Street in Carrboro. We felt flamenco was an ideal art form to start with in honor of the Spanish speaking population of Orange County.  It’s an art form that is popular worldwide yet represents the Romani people, wandering folks who have lived on the edge for centuries.  Because of flamenco’s passionate expression of longing and loss, joy and defiance, and the gut-wrenching experience of living; it is an art form that speaks to all of us.
