WDAV’s Recording Inclusivity Initiative Recital: An Afternoon of Song

Pianodrome at Grace A.M.E. Zion Church 219 South Brevard Street, Charlotte, United States

In celebration of WDAV’s Recording Inclusivity Initiative, soprano Sequina DuBose and pianist Emily Jarrell Urbanek will perform the music of prolific African-American women composers at this year's Charlotte SHOUT! Festival. Featuring works by legendary composers like Margaret Bonds and Tania León, this contemplative recital will culminate with the B.E. Boykin song cycle Moments in Sonder on lesser-known texts of Maya Angelou. Moments in Sonder is one of three works selected and professionally recorded during the first round of WDAV’s RII project.
