Winners of our annual Rising Stars concerto competition will perform as featured soloists with the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra, flanked by premieres of three works: Elyse Kahler’s Lullaby for Orchestra (NC premiere); Steve Landis’ Until Then Skal (world premiere); and Emily Cooley’s Argo (NC Premiere)!

David Heid & Dan Seyfried join the full orchestra as guest pianists in Saint-Saëns’ classic Carnival of the Animals, along with animal-inspired works by Haydn, Griffes, and Hovhannes.

Chamber players from the RSO’s Free Spirits, the RSO personnel, and guest artists will perform works by notable African-American composers. Featuring guest vocalist, baritone Anthony Philpott, and works by Florence Price, Honore Diakanua Wayawa, Scott Joplin, Natalie Coleman, William Grant Still, Carlos Simon, Margaret Bonds, and Shawn Okpebholo.
