There was a time when municipalities regulated these people, when they were obliged to provide local service, local facilities, and local support, all in exchange for permission to operate a monopoly in our midst. Looks like all we get now is a corporate name on a venue or two – while the fat cats in the fancy suits get richer and richer for doing less and less. It’s time for a change. But is Comcast a viable alternative or just another drain on our personal resources?

There’s free Wi-Fi in downtown Raleigh. What about the rest of the citizens?
