The Triangle Brass Band, under the direction of Tony Granados, Artistic Director, joins forces with the talented UNC Wind Ensemble, directed by Dr. Evan Feldman, for a concert featuring both groups presenting some wonderful repertoire. NC Symphony trumpeter Tim Stewart joins the Triangle Brass Band as a featured soloist on “Caprice” by Joseph Turrin. The UNC Wind Ensemble performs a mix of classic and contemporary works for wind band, including Frank Ticheli’s driving and jazzy “Blue Shades” and David Stanhope’s Grainger-esque “Folk Song Suite No. 2” — two “new classics” for wind ensemble.

The UNC Wind Ensemble is composed of approximately forty-five of the finest wind and percussion performers at the university. Although its members come from many different states and a variety of fields of study, they are drawn together by the desire to perform serious wind literature.
