You’ve got new plans for November 11 and 12. The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle will present their concert “Musical Fairytales” featuring guest artists Louise Toppin, and the students of KidZNotes. This concert will be held at the Hayti Heritage Center (804 Old Fayetteville Street, Durham) on Sunday November 11 at 3pm and Monday November 12 at 7pm
The concert will include performances of Ravel’s “Ma Mere L’Oye”, Canteloube’s “Songs of the Auvergne”, and Faure’s “Dolly Suite, op.56”. In addition, the KidZNotes Beethoven Ensemble will perform “Lift Every Voice and Sing” side by side with the professional musicians of the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle. This will be the first time KidZNotes students have performed with the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle. One final note, this performance is partially sponsored by the N.C. Arts Council, a division of the Department of Cultural Resources.
Inspired by the revolutionary El Sistema programs in Venezuela, KidZNotes believes in combating the effects of poverty and transforming the lives of underserved children through free music education. KidZNotes is delighted to collaborate with the Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle in offering KidZNotes students this enriching and invaluable performance experience.

KidZNotes has expanded in its third year to enroll 200 students in need at five low-income schools in Durham: Eastway, Y.E. Smith, E.K. Powe, Maureen Joy and Club Boulevard Humanities Magnet Elementary. KidZNotes provides instruments and nearly ten hours a week of free music instruction for their 200 students.
