On Wednesday, July 12, EMF partners with Greensboro Opera for: “Shave and a Haircut.” The performance is located at, and sponsored by, Temple Emanuel in Greensboro. The program includes selections from Stephen Sondheim’s Into the Woods, and Sweeney Todd: The Demon of Fleet Street, Marc Shaiman’s Hairspray, and many more.
The Eastern Festival Orchestra Concert Series continues this week featuring some of the best musicians in the country and the world. On July 15, at 8:00 p.m., Eastern Festival Orchestra presents “The American Scene,” spotlighting world-renowned clarinetist and teacher John Manasse who will perform Aaron Copland’s Clarinet Concerto in Guilford College’s Dana Auditorium. The American Scene is inspired by a concert written by the American composer, Aaron Copland, and The New World Symphony inspired by America, and written by Antonín Dvořák.
Greensboro Downtown Parks joins Eastern Music Festival on Sunday, July 16 at 6:30 p.m. to bring EMF music to LeBauer Park. EMF Young Artists and EMF Conducting Fellows provide a FREE pops concert for downtown Greensboro which includes marches by John Phillip Sousa and the movie music of John Williams. The Young Artists will play another FREE concert Monday, July 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the Hayworth Fine Arts Center at High Point University.
EMF continues through July 29 with performances by EMF’s professional orchestra, Eastern Festival Orchestra, as well as our two Young Artists Orchestras, recitals by faculty ensembles, chamber music performances, master classes, workshops and outreach activities in venues around the Triad including Guilford College, UNCG, High Point University and Greensboro’s new LeBauer Park.
Eastern Music Festival welcomed internationally acclaimed soloists, world-class orchestra performers and instructors and 234 young artists from around the globe to Greensboro on June 24 for the Festival’s 56th season.
