In the wake of ArtsNC’s failure to obtain funding from the state legislature for arts organizations in Mecklenburg and Wake Co. in the vile bill recently passed and signed by the governor, United Arts has worked with the Wake Co. Commission to establish a $1 M fund to help sustain local arts groups. UAC President Charles Pfaneuf writes: “Just a short while ago, the County Commission voted unanimously to approve a $1 million allocation for United Arts to administer a nonprofit arts relief fund for Wake County organizations. Here is the official announcement: https://covid19.wakegov.com/wake-county-seeds-covid-19-relief-fund-for-local-arts-organizations-with-1-million-investment/. If you were in touch asking a commissioner to support this, now would be a great time to say thank you for their vote! United Arts’ next steps are to finalize a contract with the County, put together an application and share with you. I don’t have any more details right now, but you will next hear from us on this topic when we have information about when and how to apply.” Hearty thanks to UA for this valiant initiative.”

P.S. Mecklenburg scored bigger, coming up with $3 M for its arts organizations….
