In celebration of the musical talent in Western North Carolina and the surrounding areas, the Music Foundation of WNC is proud to present its Fifth Annual World Masterwork Series Benefit Concert, supporting the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra. This extraordinary “3Bs” concert will feature rarely heard Johann Sebastian Bach concertos written for three pianos, supported by the Hendersonville Symphony Chamber Orchestra. Under the baton of Thomas Joiner, the Hendersonville Symphony Chamber Orchestra will perform with noted pianists, Christopher Tavernier, Jesse Davis, and Vance Reese.

Through this partnership, proceeds will advance the performing arts in the local community and region. The concert will be presented at Diana Wortham Theatre in Asheville, North Carolina, Saturday, September 2nd at 7 p.m.

Even on the world-stage, three-piano concerts of this nature are rare, technically challenging and beautiful beyond compare. The prelude will feature the Chamber Orchestra performing “Johannes Brahms – 16 Waltzes, Op. 39, (arr. for strings F. Thieriot)”. It will be followed by Bach’s “Concerto No. 1 in D Minor for Three Pianos, BWV 1063”. Starting the second half of the evening, 16-year-old pianist Christopher Tavernier of Hendersonville will perform Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Waldstein” Piano Sonata No. 21 in C Major, Op. 53″. The program will close with Bach’s “Concerto No. 2 in C Major for Three Pianos, BWV 1064.”

Adding to the uniqueness of this occasion, Freeburg Pianos in Hendersonville is providing three “Limited-Special-Edition” and matching Perzina Grand Pianos that were manufactured and imported by Perzina Pianos in Amsterdam. These instruments will allow for the re-creation of music composed in the Baroque and Classical periods as it was originally intended to be performed and heard. This is certain to set a new standard of musical excellence in Western North Carolina and far beyond the echoes of the concert hall. Come and join us for this once in a lifetime experience.
