We send today a load of love to Hope Gooch on her 90th birthday, tinged with sadness, since she lost her beloved husband John only yesterday. Together, they were a dynamic musical power couple with boundless energy and enthusiasm for playing and encouraging and supporting the art of performance. They were long-time champions of CVNC, serving as our leading Triad representatives, and their attendance at our fairly infrequent board meetings was always accompanied by remarkable tales of their journeys from there to here, often in tandem with our resident Hillsborough critic, the late, comparably indefatigable William Thomas Walker. So love to Hope and sympathies at her loss and our loss, too, truly, for John was, beyond his musicianship, a kind, generous, and dear friend.
