The Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival partners with the Raleigh Chamber Music Guild to present the first Four Seasons in the Triangle performance of the 2013-2014 season on Sunday, September 15th at 3pm. The concert takes place at the Fletcher Opera Theater of the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts, and will feature internationally-renowned artists Robert McDonald, piano; Hsin-Yun Huang, viola; and Colin Carr, cello, alongside festival artistic director Ara Gregorian, violin.
The concert will include Joaquin Turina’s Piano Quartet in A Minor, Op. 67, Johannes Brahms’ Piano Quartet No. 3 in C Minor, Op. 60 and Antonín Dvorák’s Piano Quartet No. 2 in E Flat Major, Op. 87.
“I look forward to presenting this special concert to the Triangle area community with the Raleigh Chamber Music Guild and to bringing musicians from throughout the world to perform,” said Gregorian. “The combination of internationally-renowned guest artists and thrilling repertoire makes this a concert that is not-to-be-missed.”
In residence at the East Carolina University School of Music, the Four Seasons Chamber Music Festival is celebrating its 14th season. Highlights of past seasons include more than 126 public concerts, 280 master classes, two performances at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall and a six-concert tour of Israel. This season features 14 concerts at East Carolina University, 26 public master classes and open rehearsals, Children’s Residency VII, Four Seasons Family Night, three Next Generation Concerts, two Next Gen on the Road tours, the inaugural Four Seasons Features residency, two concerts in New Bern, two concerts in Raleigh and a series of interactive outreach events.
The Raleigh Chamber Music Guild is North Carolina’s oldest chamber music presenting organization. Since its founding in 1941, the Guild has presented most of the world’s greatest chamber artists, from one of the first concerts by the Juilliard String Quartet in 1949 to the last North Carolina performance by the Tokyo String Quartet before it disbanded in June of this year. RCMG presents the Masters Series, which features national and international ensembles, as well as Sights & Sounds on Sundays, which showcases NC-based musicians in programs which connect chamber music selections and works in the Museum’s permanent collection and touring exhibitions.
