Concert artists Jon Manasse and Jon Nakamatsu – regarded as one of the best chamber music duos in the country today – are returning to Greensboro for a very special concert. On Friday, March 21 the duo will present the Ingram Memorial Concert, in memory of Music for a Great Space (MGS) co-founder Henry Ingram.
Jon Manasse and Jon Nakamatsu have appeared on some of the country’s most prestigious series: New York City’s Mostly Mozart Festival at Lincoln Center, Washington’s Dumbarton Oaks and National Gallery of Art, Chamber Music Monterey Bay, Pittsburgh Chamber Music Society, San Jose Chamber Music Society, Charlottesville’s Tuesday Evening Concert Series, and Fort Worth’s Van Cliburn Foundation. Nakamatsu is the Gold Medalist of the Tenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, and Manasse is the former principal of the Metropolitan Opera.
Manasse and Nakamatsu will perform works by works by Schumann, Debussy, Chopin, and Poulenc, as well as contemporary works written especially for the Manasse/Nakamatsu Duo by Paquito D’Rivera and John Novacek. This concert has been sponsored by Mary Elizabeth & Charles Irvin and Jayne Ericourt.
Music for a Great Space recently announced the creation of its Ingram Memorial Endowment. The purpose of the Ingram Memorial Endowment is to support the mission of MGS: to present a series of inspiring musical performances and educational offerings. Once fully funded, the Ingram Memorial Endowment will finance the annual Ingram Memorial Concert in honor of Lucy Ingram and in memory of Henry Ingram, co-founders of Music for a Great Space.
This season, a dinner fundraiser will precede the concert. Music for a Great Space is striving to raise the remaining $17,000 to meet its endowment goal of $50,000 by April 11, 2014. The dinner is open to the public and will be at 5:30pm on Friday, March 21 at Christ United Methodist Church, enabling patrons to attend both the dinner fundraiser at that evening’s Ingram Memorial Concert at 7:30pm. Tickets for the dinner are $20, and the concert tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $5 for students. All proceeds from the dinner and concert will be added to the endowment.
The deadline to purchase tickets to the dinner is Monday, March 17.
