Back-to-School with PEEP!!! (Dog & Pony Show, Sept. 27-28) is another hilarious risqué romp by the Triangle’s leading vaudeville and burlesque troupe. The lovely and talented Miss Pixie (Lissa Brennan) will lead her merry band through a side-splitting series of timeless R-rated comic skits, ribald song and dance routines, and other inspired monkey business.

The PEEP ensemble of Leigh Hall, Hope Hynes, Derrick Ivey, Maureen McMullen Muntner, Jay O’Berski, Lance Waycaster, and Jane Allen Wilson will strut their stuff in a rollicking revue in the spirit of the old-time burlesque and vaudeville shows of the 1930s and 1940s.

The Saturday night performance will be a specially priced fund-raiser for the group’s upcoming presentation of La Ronde (Nov. 14-23). After Back-to-School with PEEP!!! the PEEP troupe-plus Wade F. Dansby III, Benji Jones, and Michael Smith-will perform a seated reading of Sodom by that infamous 18th-century playwright and libertine John Wilmot, Lord Rochester.

“Fully staging Sodom, if we pay attention to the directions in the original text, would get all of us hauled off to the big house in violation of obscenity laws,” says Lissa Brennan. “When it was first created in the 1700s, prostitutes were hired to perform the show. The best way to do it here and now seemed to be as a seated reading.”

Brennan says the premise for Sodom is very, very simple: “A king, bored and disgusted with his wife, outlaws intercourse. Chaos ensues.”

She adds that PEEP is definitely “not for the kiddies. PEEP has dirty jokes, some naughty words and brief nudity. Sodom has lots of naughty words.”
