CVNC:

By my lights, your write-ups of ADF this year are absolutely “spot on.”

Dance is a very peculiar animal in that the works presented may possess a telling title (or may not), are never described in any very helpful way in program notes, and when pressed almost always draw the vaguest explanations from the company, which inevitably amounts to “its what you see in it.” Of course, if the explanation were immediately obvious within the work itself, it might lack inherent substance or artistic virtue.

So… if there ever was a medium which demands educated, clear-headed, experienced and open-minded, straightforward commentary it is modern dance.

And your writer is doing a splendid job.

Thanks!
