Thank you for your news feature about bass soloist James Longmire. His recognition has been a long time coming. I shall never forget hearing him sing, with impeccable interpretation, the bass solos for all three sections of Handel’s Messiah at one of the five “Handel On Hunger” events (begun as MESSIAH 2000) in Southern Pines that I was privileged to organize when we lived in Pinehurst. I enjoyed reviewing for CVNC one of his recital appearances when Dr. Longmire performed at Bosendorfer Hall in Raleigh circa 2002-03. It is .. in the CVNC archives….
