William Henry Curry Named Resident Conductor of the NC Symphony

At the NC Symphony’s annual meeting, held at the Governor’s Mansion on June 24, Maestro William Henry Curry was named the orchestra’s Resident Conductor. The appointment was published July 1 at the NCS’ website – see http://www.ncsymphony.org/news/detail.cfm?nid=115 [inactive 9/06] for the official announcement – and is effective immediately. Curry’s previous titles included Interim Artistic Planning Advisor (IAPA), reflecting the role he played during the orchestra’s recent search for a new music director, and Associate Conductor, which position he held since arriving in North Carolina in 1996. He continues to serve as Artistic Director of the Summerfest series, and his next concert in the Triangle will be on July 10, in Cary. See our calendar for details.
