Music for a Great Space (MGS) is bringing the critically acclaimed duo of guitarist Denis Azabagic and flutist Eugenia Moliner to perform at St. Pius Church.
Cavatina’s unusual combination of flute and guitar has been described as “a kind of magic…the atmosphere created by the music quite overshadowed the notes themselves.” (Sun-Times News Chicago) Performing works of Bach, Mozart, Piazzolla, and Takemitsu, they will also feature music written expressly for their duo by Joseph Williams, Clarice Assad, and Alan Thomas.
Cavatina has excited audiences around the globe including performances at the Ravinia Festival, the De Camera Society, the Aix-en-Provence Summer Festival, and the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing. They have compiled a substantial number of recordings on the Opera Tres, Cedille, Bridge, and Orobroy labels. Azabagic and Moliner are also Artists-Faculty at the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University.
The concert will take place January 27, 7:30pm at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Greensboro, NC. Azabagic and Moliner are both giving masterclasses at Guilford College and UNCG respectively on January 26. Please call 336-638-7624 or email execdirector@musicforagreatspace.org to attend.
