This preview has been provided by the Moore Philharmonic Orchestra.

Celebrate the sweet sounds of Spring by attending the Moore Philharmonic Orchestra concert on Thursday April 24, 2014 at 7 PM.  This performance will be at Owens Auditorium on the campus of Sandhills Community College located at 3395 Airport Road in Pinehurst, North Carolina.  Featured soloists are world-renowned pianist Sophia Pavlenko and guest conductor Paul Chandley.  In addition, scholarships will be awarded to winners of the Orchestra’s annual student scholarship competition.  No tickets are required, but tax-deductible donations are always welcome.

The program will include original compositions from the following composers:
     A Voice Prophetic, by Robert Hudson
     Lake Arrowhead Overture, by Eric Kopecky
     Piano Concerto No. 2, by Sophia Pavlenko
     The Spunky Girl, by Ian Guthrie
     Little Prelude, by Wendy Steslicke

The audience may meet and greet some of the composers at a reception immediately following the concert.

Since 2005, the Orchestra has served the Sandhills community supporting music appreciation and education.  It provides an outlet for approximately 50 volunteer musicians to perform varied programs of orchestral literature. Members include experienced adults and talented college, high school and middle school students.  It is a non-profit 501c(3) organization and relies on individual and business contributions to help cover operating and  general expenses and to support a scholarship fund benefitting Moore County music students.  The Orchestra is a member of the Moore County Arts Council, the Moore County Chamber of Commerce and the League of American Orchestras.
