This preview has been provided by the Triangle Brass Band.

The Triangle Brass Band performs the very special story of “Harrison’s Dream” at 7:00 pm on Saturday, February 21st at the Cary Arts Center Theatre. “Harrison’s Dream” is a musical depiction of the forty-year effort by John Harrison during the first half of the 18th century to develop a chronometer capable of providing exact time on the high seas. Creating a longitudinal clock would save the lives of his countrymen at sea, and earn a large cash prize for himself. Much of the music is mechanistic in tone and is constructed along precise mathematical and metrical lines. Come and hear how Peter Graham depicts this highly rhythmic and technical composition.

This concert also features special guest Terry Everson, performing Martin Ellerby’s “Cornet Concerto” on cornet and “Escapade” by Joseph Turrin on trumpet. Cited in the Boston Globe for his “dazzling, clarion brightness with elegant edges”, trumpeter Terry Everson is an internationally renowned soloist, educator, composer/arranger, conductor, and church musician. Other selections include “Sleep” by Eric Whitacre, “A Malvern Suite” by Philip Sparke, and Tchaikovsky’s “Finale to Symphony #2”.

Tickets for the Cary Arts Center are available on-line through eTix, through the ticket office, (919) 462-2055 or at the door ($10 adult, $5 senior/student). Cash | Check | Charge. For concert information visit our web page at www.trianglebrass.org.

This concert is proudly sponsored by grants from the Lazy Daze Festival and the Town of Cary Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources.
