New Bern Civic Theatre: The Diary of a Mother

This deeply inspiring musical stage show is particularly appropriate to recognize April’s designation as National Second Chance Month. It tells the story of a mother dealing with personal struggles while dealing with a rebellious son and a stepson. As things go from bad to worse, her faith is tested and she must work to get past pain and anger to realize her dreams.

An original play by Craven County native Robert Brock, “The Diary of a Mother”, stars New Bern’s own exceptionally gifted Gospel performer and vocalist, Bonita Burney Simmons.  Other actors include model/actor Quincy Grant, model/actor Minyon Thomas, and Robert Brock.

Tried By Fire, Inc. is proud to partner with New Bern Civic Theater to bring this unique fundraiser event to the local stage. Ticket proceeds will benefit non-profit organization Tried By Fire, Inc.’s program at My Sister’s House, a transitional home here in New Bern to provide safe and supportive shelter to women, post-incarceration, so they have better opportunities for a successful reentry experience and a positive reunification with their children and families.
