Change is, as someone once said, inevitable – CVNC is sad but also thrilled to announce a significant change. Andrea M. Luke has become CVNC‘s next Executive Director. She is replacing Carolyn Kohring who will continue to volunteer with the organization as bookkeeper and in other areas as needed. For now, Andrea will retain her responsibilities as calendar editor, too.

Carolyn began working for CVNC in November 2005, the first paid employee of the organization. She was named Executive Director in 2012 as the organization continued to expand. Carolyn and her husband Ray both will retire fully by the end of the summer. We wish them well as they plan to do lots of traveling in their retirement.

As Andrea takes the reins, she has stated: “Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to become CVNC’s new Executive Director – I am excited and honored. I joined the family in 2011 as an intern reviewer, and as I have progressed through this organization, CVNC has been one of the highlights of my professional career – the perfect blend of arts, writing, and community advocacy.”

Andrea McKerlie Luke earned her BM in Music Performance with a concentration in flute, along with a minor in Professional Writing and Presentation Media, from Meredith College in 2013. She began with CVNC through the college internship program in 2011, continuing to become a reviewer/critic after graduating. After additionally taking on the role of Calendar Editor for several years, she was appointed as the new Executive Director in 2021. Luke is also the Web Coordinator for the Raleigh Area Flute Association, where she is an active performer and has directed several youth flute choirs. She is a Chapel Hill native who was raised both listening to and performing with various local musical organizations, including the Raleigh Flute Choir, Raleigh Little Theatre, Raleigh Symphony Orchestra, and Triangle Youth Ballet.
