First-prize and Bach prize winner at the 2017 Canadian International Organ Competition, Alcee Chriss III performs on the Op. 82 Fisk Organ that inspired the start of the Music for a Great Space series. A featured star in the PBS documentary Pipe Dreams, Chriss is known for incorporating jazz and gospel influences into his performances. Chriss was appointed as University Organist and Artist-in-Residence at Wesleyan University, where he teaches courses in organ and keyboard skills. He is active as a church musician, guest lecturer, and remains engaged with his lifelong love of gospel and jazz music. He is currently Assistant Organist at Trinity Church Wall Street, New York City, and serves on the editorial board of Vox Humana magazine. $22 adults, $20 seniors, $5 students

Music for a Great Space presents Camille Thurman and the Darrell Green Quartet

Acclaimed by Downbeat Magazine as a “rising star” Camille Thurman has been amazing audiences with her vocals and on saxophone with her impeccable sound, remarkable vocal virtuosity and captivating artistry. The New York City native has already amassed several distinctive honors for her musicianship: runner up in the 2013 Sarah Vaughan International Vocal Competition, two-time winner of the ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composers Award and a winner of the Fulbright Scholars Cultural Ambassador Grant, The Chamber Music of America Performance Plus Grant (Sponsored by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation) and the Jazz Coalition Composers Grant among others. Thurman also has four full-length recordings as a leader to her credit. Thurman made history, becoming the first woman in 30 years to tour, record, and perform full-time internationally with the world-renowned Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. She will perform with the Darrell Green Quartet: Darrell Green-Drums, Wallace Roney Jr.-Trumpet , Marvin Sewell-Guitar, and Tom DiCarlo-Bass. $22 adults, $20 seniors, $5 students
