The Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra presents Saxophonist Rahsaan Barber

Temple Theatre 114 Carthage Street, Sanford

Rahsaan Barber is from Nashville and he now teaches at UNC CH. He will perform with the Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra and many of his original tunes will be featured. Other tunes for the program are jazz big band favorites as well as some by band leader and saxophonist Gregg Gelb and trombonist Phil Allen. Tickets are $25 for ages 17+. Free Concert: Please consider bringing donations of these items to help those affected by Helene in rural Ashe county. During the concert, there will also be an opportunity to donate to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund, which works with the United Way of North Carolina to help meet the needs of Hurricane Helene victims. The Triangle Youth Jazz Ensemble (TYJE) and the Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra (HOCJO), both under the direction of Dr. Gregg Gelb, will be holding a free benefit concert at Greystone Baptist Church to assist with relief efforts for those in western North Carolina who have been affected by Hurricane Helene. The award-winning TYJE features students in grades 9-12 and has been a finalist for Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Essentially Ellington Festival; Competition 8 times. The HOCJO has been captivating audiences throughout central NC since 1991 with the classic swing and elegance of big band jazz.
