Kate Steinbeck, flute · Jessica Schaeffer, harp This program leans toward modern lyrical – from Leonard Bernstein to South Carolina waltz-composer Andrew Levin and mystical Alan Hovhaness – with a common thread weaving throughout. What thread is that? Kate and Jessica’s love for what they find beautiful, surprising, sublime, and exciting (and sometimes challenging!). Join in on a journey into the breadth and depth of life, distilled in music! Pan Harmonia is passionate about sharing its music with everyone. This concert is a donation-based, free admission community concert. All are welcome!

Four Seasons plays “Four Seasons”

We open our 25 th  Anniversary Season with a true musical extravaganza! Dazzling violin soloist Hye-Jin Kim and a chamber orchestra of nearly twenty take the stage to perform a sensational pairing of selections from Antonio Vivaldi’s Four Seasons alongside Astor Piazzolla’s Argentinian companion work, the sultry, tango-inspired Four Seasons of Buenos Aires. Two short movements from Edward Elgar and Antonín Dvořák complete the conductor-less orchestra’s portion of the concert. Rounding out the program is an example of the intimate and dramatic chamber music for which we’re known: Ernő Dohnányi’s stunning Piano Quintet in C Minor. Featuring some of history’s most iconic music, this concert is not-to-be-missed! A Secrest Series world premiere! "Bartók Reborn" will be presented by the icarus Quartet, an ensemble of two pianists and two percussionists anchored by Wake Forest Music faculty member Larry Weng. Bartók’s Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion will be followed by three new works commissioned by the Secrest Artists Series – and written in response to Bartók’s masterpiece – by composers Martin Bresnick, Viet Cuong, and Pulitzer Prize winner Jennifer Higdon. $5-$20 Free for WFU/Medical School students, faculty, staff, and retirees.

Raleigh Cameratas Ensemble Absolut presents: Le trésor du romantique, an afternoon of amazing and delightful works for early Romantic piano and wind instruments. Featuring pianist Katya Kramer Lapin, this free concert will be a dazzling opener to Raleigh Camerata's 2024-25 season. The afternoon will feature early Romantic works on original instruments and copies thereof, and pianist Kramer Lapin will perform on an original 1840's Fortepiano by Wihelm Dörr of Vienna. NC State Choral Artists: “Persistence”

Featuring Alex Berko’s new multi-movement work, Sacred Place, written as ”an ecological service that connects the old with the new, the sacred with the secular and the individual with their community.” Also featuring Shara Nova’s Carols After a Plague, Ayanna Woods’ tryptich for voices with electronics, Shift, and Jake Runestad’s Come to the Woods. The concert will also include the NC State Chorale. The NC State University Choral Artists is a public-private partnership between the NC State University choral music program and professionals in the vocal music industry that brings excellent and innovative choral music to NC State. This ensemble attains the highest levels of musical artistry and is dedicated to collaborative musical performances that positively impact NC State students, the community and the Triangle’s choral music scene. Due to the uncertain water situation throughout the city of Asheville, October 27 Sonidos Picantes concert at First Presbyterian Church of Asheville is cancelled as well as Saturday, October 26 performance in Greer, South Carolina.
