Author Trinity Bursey and composer Gregg Gelb collaborate in a special show with Bursey reading and showing a slide presentation of her children’s book “The Day the Instruments Split” with accompaniment by the Heart of Carolina Jazz Orchestra performing new music by Gelb. The new music complements the themes of the book which are; the consequences of rejecting diversity, the value of collaboration, the chaos that ensues when people fail to understand and appreciate each other’s differences and the beauty that flows from diversity and the harmony found in unity. To round out the show the orchestra will perform other works by Gelb and well-known jazz tunes.
