The Triangle Brass Band is thrilled to be starting off their 2011-2012 regular concert season with a performance at the brand new Cary Arts Center. Please join us for “Journey to the Moon” on Saturday, November 19 at 8:00pm, a concert presentation with narration which chronicles the story of our country’s exploration to the moon and back. This musical journey of inspiration, exploration and triumph will be an unforgettable evening with works such as, “2001: A Space Odyssey”, Holst’s Jupiter from “The Planets”, Theme from “E.T. – The Extra-Terrestrial”, as well as timeless movie themes, classics and swing oldies.
In 2003, the Town of Cary purchased the old Cary Elementary School with the plan of converting it into a community arts center. Construction on the space, officially named the Cary Arts Center, was finished in summer 2011. This 48,000 square foot facility includes classrooms, studios, rehearsal space, and office space for a wide range of arts groups. The building also contains a 390-seat theatre.
Music Director of Triangle Brass Band, Tony Granados, says “We’re delighted to be one of the performing arts groups to try out this new space in its first year of opening. The Town of Cary has really provided its community with a great center of cultural activity. The band feels honored to play in this new space.” Concert-goers can expect to hear lots of brass band “fan favorites.”
