This preview has been provided by the North Carolina Symphony.
The North Carolina Symphony will bring to life “Mozart’s Magnificent Voyage,” on Saturday, March 7 at 1 p.m. and again at 4 p.m. at Meymandi Concert Hall in downtown Raleigh. The concert, which will be led by Associate Conductor David Glover and features Classical Kids Live!, is a wonderful way to introduce youngsters to classical music and makes for a great family outing.
The concert will tell the story of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s young son Karl, who longs to spend more time with his famous father. The boy receives that opportunity when they attend a performance of The Magic Flute. The audience can follow Karl’s journey as he (and they) learn more about his father’s life and music.
Free pre-concert activities, which begin one hour before the concert, include the MetLife Instrument Zoo, face painting with Paint Savvy, a coloring contest sponsored by Coastal Federal, and Music Makers with Marbles Kids Museum.
These concerts also feature the debut of a partnership between Time Warner Cable and the Symphony in infusing Science of Sound elements into its music education program for 2015-16. Pre-concert activities connected with Science of Sound/Connect A Million Minds will be coordinated by TWC volunteers.
