Music for a Great Space (MGS) presents the South Carolina based piano duo of Marina Lomazov and Joseph Rackers following the annual Ingram Dinner.

Proceeds from the Ingram Dinner support the Ingram Memorial Endowment which honors Henry and Lucy Ingram who founded Music for a Great Space 26 years ago. Henry and Lucy met at the Eastman School of Music when they were paired together as a piano duo. The February 17 evening concert features another piano duo who also met at Eastman.

The Lomazov Rackers duo has premiered numerous works across the United States, including several works written specifically for them. Their broad repertoire ranges from important works by Bach, Brahms, Mozart and Schubert to wide-ranging performances of Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring and Petrushka, leading one critic to write that the duo “really lit up the audience…demonstrat(ing) that nearly 100 years after it was written, this modernist touchstone can still sound modern” (Free Times).

Lomazov Rackers has recently performed with the Chernigov Philharmonic, the South Carolina Philharmonic, Piccolo Spoleto Festival and numerous others. Ms. Lomazov and Mr. Rackers each hold the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Piano Performance from the Eastman School of Music and both serve on the piano faculty of the University of South Carolina School of Music.

The concert will take place February 17, 7:30pm at Christ United Methodist Church in Greensboro, NC. Lomazov Rackers will be doing a two-day educational residency in the Guilford County schools including an open presentation at Weaver Academy on February 16.
