This program will feature works by notable American composers such as Samuel Barber, William Averitt, Libby Larsen, Rene Clausen and John Corigliano that utilize poetry by Langston Hughes, Emily Dickenson, Dylan Thomas, James Agee and Louise Bogan. Also included are arrangements by Craig Hella Johnson of contemporary songs by artists Annie Lennox and Carly Simon. All works on the program are thematically connected making references to landscapes and nature. Titles include: Fern Hill, The Settling Years, Sure On This Shining Night, To Be Sung on the Water, Under the Willow Tree, Let the River Run and 1000 Beautiful Things.
