Grammy winners Apollo’s Fire and Jeannette Sorrell are known for exploring the crossroads of history and tradition with “infectious energy” and “profoundly spontaneous performances” (Gramophone magazine]. Playing on historical instruments, the ensemble traces the roots of Appalachian music to the Irish and Scottish immigrants who crossed the Atlantic, bringing their ballads, jigs, and reels with them.
An Appalachian Summer Festival, the university’s annual arts event of music, dance, theatre, film and visual arts, presents its 39th season June 24-July 29 on and around the campus of App State.
