Program

For 20 years, the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra has showcased local musicians and vocalists "on the rise," providing high school and college students the opportunity to perform with a professional orchestra. CVNC.org's Paul D. Williams has called this competition and concert experience: "the Gold Medal...for consistent and invaluable support and encouragement of uncommonly talented young music students... [which] rightly belongs to the committed musicians of the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra."

Repertoire:
Vaughan Williams: English Folk Song Suite
Guilant Organ Symphony No. 1: Introduction and Allegro
Nielsen Concerto for Flute and Orchestra: Allegro Moderato
Rossini: La Gazza Ladra Overture
Delius: A Walk to the Paradise Garden

This year's edition will feature competition winners Kyrese Washington on the first movement of Neilsen's Concerto for Flute and Orchestra; and Jonghee Yoon, playing the first movement of Guilmant's Organ Symphony No. 1.
