POSTPONED UNTIL MARCH: The Top-Ten Superpowers of All Time and In the Mouth of Urban Decay

( Thu., Jan. 27, 2022 )

Performed by Alli Marshall, poetry, with Ryan Glass, piano; BAD TIES

LEAF Global Arts Center, 19 Eagle St., Asheville, NC 28805

The Top-Ten Superpowers of All Time is an exploration - in poetry, music, and performance art - of heroic ability. Human beings are miraculous and flawed. Being human is an exercise in bold imagining and dashed hopes. We long for grace, dexterity, and bravery to get us out of jams and elevate us above our mundane experience. At the same time, we often feel invisible, small, and tapped out. In this collaborative production, Alli Marshall (spoken word) and Ryan Glass (piano) hope to find the spaces where our weaknesses become our greatest strengths.

Asheville locals BAD TIES take their unique spin on beat poetry performance into the world of mixed media performance art with their new show In the Mouth of Urban Decay, a 30 minute presentation of film, music, and original spoken word surrounding themes of displacement, geography and life’s little disappointments.

Given the recommendations from the Buncombe County Health department and the rise in the COVID-19 positivity rate, the Asheville Fringe Festival will continue with its scheduled Online Live! and Online Films on the weekend of January 27-30, but postpone its in-person shows and events until March 24-27. This includes the kick-off party/benefit for Sly Grog, scheduled for Sunday, January 16th. The new date for the SlyGrog Benefit at LEAF Global Arts is March 6th.

Premiering as part of the Asheville Fringe Arts Festival.

Tickets can be bought through the Asheville Fringe Arts Festival website starting January 1st.
