Love, passion, jealousy, deception, revenge and forgiveness reveal themselves in Mozart’s final opera. Emperor Tito wants Servilia to be his bride, but when she tells him that she’s in love with another, he chooses to wed Vitellia. But Vitellia, daughter of the former emperor, plots to avenge her father’s death by killing Tito. A riot ensues, Rome is engulfed in flames, and the Emperor is believed to be lost. But is he? And what will happen to the conspirators? Directed by Steven LaCosse, La Clemenza di Tito is Mozart’s take on an opera seria in two acts with an Italian libretto by Caterino Mazzolà, after Pietro Metastasio.
