Program

The program, Beloved Baroque, features familiar tunes like Pachelbel’s famous Canon in D, along with irresistibly passionate music by Vivaldi, Handel, and C.P.E. Bach. J.S. Bach’s double concerto is the highlight of the program, a work showing Bach’s mastery of melody imbued with dance-like movement. The collection of favorite composers offers a chance to hear a period-instrument ensemble that plays with “fearless energy, zest, and precision” (The Boston Globe).

Lully: Suite from Phaëton, LWV 61

Handel: Concerto Grosso in B-flat Major, op. 3, no. 2

Vivaldi: Concerto in E Minor for Strings and Basso Continuo, RV 134

Pachelbel: Canon

Handel: Concerto Grosso in F Major, op. 3, no. 4, HWV 315

C.P.E. Bach: Symphony in E-flat Major, Wq. 183/2

J.S. Bach: Double Concerto for Oboe and Violin in C Minor, BWV 1060a
