Performed by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, dancer and choreographer; Rosas dancers
Memorial Hall, 208 East Cameron Avenue, Chapel Hill, NC 27514
In this riveting performance by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, repetition plays the lead role. A seminal postmodern work, Rosas danst Rosas is unequivocally feminine—four women dancers engage in a dialogue of fierce movements that are countered by small everyday gestures. The exhaustion and perseverance that come with it create an emotional tension that contrasts sharply with the rigorous structure of this choreography by an internationally renowned dancemaker.
$27 general admission, $10 UNC students with ID.
And see this note from DIDA: On October 9, attend Rosas at 7:30 at Memorial Hall, then join us for a lively post-show discussion at the Carolina Inn. We aim to disrupt the usual post-show talkback with a real conversation that takes in how you feel, where you’ve been, where you’re going, and what this dance has to do with all that. Homework 100% not required, but you’re welcome to prep by following our pre-show explorations on Facebook.
