Performed by Triangle Pride Men's and Women's Choruses, Common Woman Chorus and Triangle Gay Men's Chorus
Carolina Theatre of Durham, 309 West Morgan Street, Durham, NC 27701-2119
This event will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall uprising, the catalyst for the modern LGBTQ+ movement for civil rights and the inspiration for the annual celebration of LGBTQ+ Pride.
CWC, TGMC and their special guests, the Triad Pride Men’s and Women’s Choruses, will perform the title music suite - a brand new, 8-movement work co-commissioned by the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus and the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles - as well as additional songs of protest, liberation and inspiration presented by both CWC and TGMC.
Quiet No More: A Choral Celebration of Stonewall not only commemorates the events that took place in New York City on June 28, 1969, but also honors the courage of early, social justice pioneers. The work encourages everyone to join in the renewed spirit of resistance for the future—not just for LGBTQ+ individuals, but for all victims of bullying, hate, intolerance and violence.
A portion of the proceeds from Quiet No More will go to support the LGBT Center of Raleigh and the LGBTQ Center of Durham.
The concert will be ASL interpreted.
