Performed by Triangle Youth Philharmonic
Meymandi Concert Hall at Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts, 2 East South Street, Raleigh, NC 27601-2337
This will be the ensemble’s first full performance under the direction of David Glover. He has been working with the musicians of TYP since their fall concert, and as always, the group has improved greatly after an entire season of playing together.
The talent and hard work of the ensemble will be showcased during this concert with a variety of great repertoire including Prokofiev’s “Lieutenant Kijé Suite” and Cesar Franck’s “Symphony in D Minor”. Both dramatic pieces featuring unique melody lines and instrumentation, these selections are guaranteed to keep an audience on the edge of their seats. In addition, the program will provide audience the rare opportunity to hear an oboe concerto. Noa Weinreb, winner of this year’s Triangle Youth Philharmonic Concerto Competition, will be performing Vaughan Williams’ “Concerto in A minor for Oboe and Strings”.
