"Dancer-choreographer Shantala Shivalingappa shares a mastery of the intense and highly rhythmic 2,000-year-old Indian classical dance form, Kuchipudi, with a passion for contemporary dance. Influenced by modern dance maven Pina Bausch, for whom she has appeared in many works, Shivalingappa has collaborated with major figures including theater director Peter Brook and choreographer Maurice Béjart. Born in India and raised in Paris, she bridges East and West in her devoted exploration of dance, music and theater, melding technique with sensitivity."
