A selection of over fifty ceramics from the past three decades explores a wide range of forms, glazes, and techniques from an array of contemporary ceramic artists. Curated by Dr. Charlotte V. Wainwright, retired director of the Gregg Museum, Object Lessons draws upon the Gregg’s vast permanent collection to reveal remarkable aspects of our pottery heritage, while suggesting how these pieces can be used in new ways, both for teaching and inspiration. Dr. Wainwright is author of The Remarkable Potters of Seagrove (2006) and co-author of Architects and Builders in North Carolina (1990). The Gregg offers students and public alike a major resource for the deeper understanding and appreciation of ceramics as art, craft, and utilitarian design.
