Violin virtuoso and MacArthur fellow (i.e., “genius grant” recipient) Regina Carter is considered the foremost jazz violinist of her generation. Having worked with artists as diverse as Wynton Marsalis, Lauryn Hill, Cassandra Wilson, Aretha Franklin, Mary J. Blige, and Dolly Parton, her latest recording (March 2014) is titled Southern Comfort, in which she adds her touch to folk music of the South – inspired by the tunes her paternal grandfather, a coal miner, would have heard as he toiled in Alabama.

A pre-show discussion with vioinist Gabriel Pelli of The Old Ceremony and the Onyx Club Boys with take place one hour prior to each Saturday show in Upchurch Rehearsal Hall (lower level, Thompson Hall).
