Jan Van Dyke and the Van Dyke Dance Group will reach back into the 1980s and 1990s to perform three of the company’s classic works from the repertory: “Lament” (1984), with music by Tangerine Dream, expresses the frustration and despair we all experience as part of life. “Slow Retreat from Center” (1990) with music by Peter Gabriel is darkly portrays a community in distress. “A Sense of Order” (1990) is a measured rhythmic design of idiosyncratic gestures and organized pairings, danced to music by Greensboro artist Frank Vulpi. “Sub-Text” is a new dance choreographed by John Gamble in collaboration with members of his company. It explores our increasingly brief and ubiquitous forms of communication in the digital age. The dancers will explore a barrage of movement "bites" that will fill their world in rapid succession.
