Program

Porter's mixed media work draws upon his architectural education, as well as influences from other fields such as archaeology and cartography. Characterized by their use of topographic surveys, textual fragments and found artifacts, Porter’s drawings and models aim to construct complex narratives that connect the viewer to imaginative landscapes. These landscapes, which often serve as sites for sacred events such as excavations, burials, and outdoor sermons, look to confront questions of figure and ground, and ritual and place.
