The Duke Department of Music, Office of the Vice Provost for the Arts and Sarah P. Duke Gardens are pleased to announce 2016 Ciompi Quartet Presents, a summer chamber music series at Duke Gardens. The 2016 Ciompi Quartet Presents summer chamber music series celebrates its fifth season in the beautiful Duke Gardens Kirby Horton Hall. These concerts consistently sell-out and the audience continues to delight in the intimate and relaxed setting that has come to define this summer series. The opportunity to hear the Quartet members share their individual curatorial insights and programming inspirations, adds a joyful excitement to each concert evening. This summer the series begins with a program presented by Jonathan Bagg that builds on his study of light and shadow where he compares composers, styles and virtuosity. Eric Pritchard will again delve into the works of Bach, this time questioning the original intention for these works. Fred Raimi will end the series, this time adding voice and violin to his memorable piano and cello duo repertoire. We invite you to join us for the 2016 Ciompi Quartet Presents, which remains one of the must-see chamber music events of the summer. Concerts are on June 14, July 21, and August 18.
