The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, a performance-based organization serving the Triangle community, finishes its 31st concert season with a performance on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at the Carolina Theatre in Durham, N.C. ( 3 pm ).
The concert, titled “The Past Meets The Present” with Guest Artist: Louis Schwizgebel-Wang, piano. Pianist Louis Schwizgebel-Wang takes the keys for this celebration of classics and new works. Featured pieces include Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 2, Mozart’s Symphony No. 35 (nicknamed “The Haffner”), and Nine Symphonic Pictures by Andreas Gies, which won the Spoleto, Italy Competition. The nickname “The Haffner” comes from Mozart’s father who wrote to Mozart asking him to write a symphony for the ennoblement of Sigmund Haffner, son of the Salzburg burgomaster.
