Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle Performs Sparkling Concert

The Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle provided its enthusiastic audience with a unique concert of two astonishing gems. First was a sparkling performance of Manuel de Falla’s El retablo de maese Pedro (Master Peter’s Puppet Show). The cast included four adult-sized puppet/actors, costumed and outfitted with incredible masks created by Paperhand Puppet Intervention. I cannot over-emphasize the remarkable artistry of PPI and what they contributed to this performance. The soloists were equally commendable, providing charm, romance and drama to the production.

McIver Quartet in Choice and Rare French Fare

This RCMG Sights & Sounds on Sundays concert at the NC Museum of Art featured the McIver String Quartet, faculty members of the UNCG School of Music, in an extraordinarily attractive program of two little-known French rarities and an apt Russian piece with strong ties to pre-WWI Paris. The selections were a fitting choice in conjunction with the museum’s extensive collection of sculptures by Auguste Rodin.
