FAYETTEVILLE - Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra Summer Music Camp
    When: June 12 - 16, 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM (Registration Deadline: June 1)
    What: An individualized focused day camp for rising 8th grade through college level students who have experience playing one of the following instruments: Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba. What to Expect:

  • A day camp led by professional musicians of the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra
  • Small group playing, to help each individual excel on their instrument while learning to build musicianship by working in a collaborative setting
  • Group discussions on instrument fundamentals, intonation, technique, auditions (seating auditions, college auditions, all district/all county auditions, orchestral auditions, etc.), repertoire, etc.
  • Lunch included

HICKORY - Lenoir-Rhyne University Summer Youth Music Band Camp
    When: July 10-14, 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
    What: The band camp offers middle school and high school students a fun way to continue to develop their skills as young musicians and, at the same time, provides an opportunity for them to keep active with music during the summer. Supervised early drop-off in the morning, beginning at 8:00 AM, and afternoon recreational time until 5:30 PM.

RALEIGH - Burning Coal Summer Theatre Conservatory Jr.
    When: June 12-23, Monday-Friday from 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
    What: STC Jr. is for students entering 6th through 8th grades. Students learn techniques of movement, vocal production, and character study in the mornings and apply those techniques in rehearsing an original play in the afternoons, with a culminating production of that play by the students themselves.

RALEIGH - Burning Coal Summer Theatre Conservatory Sr.
    When: July 10-28, Monday-Friday from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM
    What: STC Sr. is for high school students interested in rigorous, professional training. It involves classes in the mornings followed by rehearsals for a play in the afternoons (this year: Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet!)  Students will learn a wide variety of subjects and techniques in classes with guest artists from the educational institutions and professional theatres from around the state.

WILMINGTON - Cameron Art Museum - Make Trouble Acting Intensive

    What: Make Trouble - a summer actor training intensive and repertory company in Shakespeare, Ensemble and Devising is proud to announce that for Summer 2017 they are moving to Wilmington, NC to offer two intensive, condensed, one-week Make Trouble Boot Camp.

WINSTON-SALEM - Southeastern Center for Contemporary Art (SECCA) - Art Through Improv
    When: Jully 10-21, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
    What: Led by SECCA educators and The Engaging Educator, students will spend each day creating their own art using professional supplies, and spend time learning the principles of improv as we investigate SECCA’s Art-o-mat exhibition. Campers will explore sculpture, miniatures, painting, and even create their very own Zine issue, all while experimenting with characters, setting, story, and motivation in improv.

WINSTON-SALEM - UNC School of the Arts - School of Dance Choreographic Institute
    When: June 12-23 & June 18 - July 22
    What: The Choreographic Institute in the School of Dance this summer, led by dance luminaries Helen Pickett, Ethan Stiefel, and Susan Jaffe, is a two-track institute that hops to foster the development of new work by established and emerging choreographers. The Institute will include two programs, the Choreographic Development Residency (June 18 - July 22) for emerging choreographers of exceptional promise and Choreographic Professional Residency (June 12-23) for contemporary ballet choreographers of exceptional talent.

WINSTON-SALEM - UNC School of the Arts - Summer Dance Intensives
    When: June 18 - July 22
    What: UNCSA Summer Dance includes two five-week intensives (June 18 to July 22), one in classical ballet and one in contemporary dance, and two two-week commercial dance intensives (June 18 to July 1 orJuly 9-22). Providing highly focused and extensive pre-professional training for intermediate and advanced dancers ages 12-18, the ballet and contemporary dance intensives feature faculty that includes Maggie Tesch and Dean Jaffe (ballet) and Larry Keigwin (contemporary).
