MGS presents the Music for a Great Cause Concert featuring the KAIA String Quartet and benefiting the Arc of Greensboro. Celebrated for its ability to "beautifully blur the lines between jazz, classical, Latin and world music" KAIA String Quartet is an ensemble devoted to exposing audiences to the rich and colorful music of Latin America. The Quartet plays an active role in Chicago's music scene where they are regular guests at the Chicago Latino Music Festival and the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art. Most recently they were the ensemble in residence at Chicago's classical radio station, WFMT. During this residency they explored the world of Latin classical music with audiences through daily radio segments, performances and broadcasts around the city, and the production of KAIA Kids, a series of children's education videos.
MGS offers the Music for a Great Cause concert once a season as an opportunity to give back to our community by partnering with and supporting another local non-profit. This season MGS has chosen the Arc of Greensboro because of the important work they do supporting those with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. KAIA is performing a special event for Arc members during their educational residency in Greensboro, culminating in the Saturday evening performance. MGS shares proceeds from this concert with the Arc of Greensboro.
KAIA String Quartet is comprised of violinists Victoria Moreira and Naomi Culp, violist Amanda Grimm, and cellist Hope DeCelle. They will be performing Beethoven's Op. 132 string quartet as well as works by Bragato and Piazzolla. This concert will take place November 9, 7:30pm at the GreenHill Art Gallery housed in Greensboro's Cultural Center. Tickets are available at the door and in advance: https://www.musicforagreatspace.org/season or call 336-638-7624.
