Maggie Pate Duffey has been named the next Music and Dance Editor of Classical Voice of North Carolina (CVNC). She will replace John Lambert who has been the Interim Editor since Roger Cope resigned in 2013. John again takes a step toward transitioning into retirement. Maggie joins Matthew Hager, Theatre and Calendar Editor, and Carolyn Kohring, Executive Director, along with more than 40 contracted writers across North Carolina.
Maggie Pate Duffey is a native North Carolinian with an extensive background in the performing arts. Maggie holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Pedagogy from East Carolina University, attended Berklee College of Music, and obtained a Master of Science in Education from Sunbridge College, New York. She is a North Carolina certified paralegal with a certificate from Duke University.
Having been on both the North Carolina and Washington State Visiting Artist rosters, Maggie has performed throughout the United States in both classical and jazz genres and as well in musical theatre and dance. Some of her most noted local performances include the soprano soloist of Stravinsky’s Les Noces with the North Carolina Master Chorale and spearheading a concert for Sights and Sounds at the North Carolina Museum of Art.
Maggie has worked for professional organizations within the arts including the Thelonious Monk Institute, WHQR-Wilmington, Performance Support Services of Seattle, Center Stage and the Long Leaf Opera Company. For the past 4 years, Maggie has held editorial positions with the Crossroad Publishing Company, an imprint of Herder & Herder, the 240 year-old Catholic publishing house in Freiburg, Germany.
We hope you will join us as we welcome Maggie to the CVNC staff, and as CVNC continues to serve the arts communities across North Carolina.
