The Raleigh Boychoir Announces Girls Programming and Reduced Tuition

July 19, 2022 - Raleigh, NC:

This article has been provided by the Raleigh Boychoir.

The Raleigh Boychoir (RBC) will have girls programming for the first time in its 55-year history and is reducing its tuition for all participants.

Emily Turner, RBC’s new Associate Artistic Director and high school treble director, and Amy Davis, RBC’s new middle school treble director have joined RBC’s Artistic staff led by Artistic Director, Jeremy Tucker. Adding girls programming and providing gender neutral auditions will expand RBC’s specialized voice education and provide more collaborative ensemble, repertoire, and performance experiences for all members. RBC will continue its current approach to educating boys through its Training, Resident and Performing choirs, and its Young Men’s Ensemble.

RBC has dropped its annual tuition in some cases to over 50% to be more accessible to more families and will continue to provide robust need-based scholarships. This effort will be supported in part by the new Raleigh Boychoir Endowment with the North Carolina Community Foundation.

Some highlights for RBC’s 2022/2023 season include its advanced treble choirs performing with the prestigious North Carolina Symphony in a special concert presentation of The Polar Express.

No season is complete without RBC’s annual presentation of “Carols of Christmas”, and in March, RBC’s Training Choir, Resident Choir, Performing Choir and Young Men’s Ensemble will present their favorite music from the Silver Screen and Broadway stage!

Our advanced treble choirs join our high school choirs in May for a special partnership presentation of the masterpiece Carmina Burana with the professional choir Voices of Chapel Hill at UNC.

Placement auditions will be held on Monday, July 25th, at 6pm, Monday, August 15th at 6pm, and at open rehearsals on Monday evenings throughout the season at Church of the Good Shepherd, 121 Hillsborough St., Raleigh, NC 27603.
